Girl Scout Programs

Queens Farm offers opportunities for Girl Scouts to explore the natural environment on our historic 47-acre grounds. Programs are available to all membership levels. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Programs at Queens Farm provide enriching experiences that support Girl Scouts along their unique journeys.

Daisies:

Journey: 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals – Daisies
Find out what animals need and how to care for them while you visit our livestock on our farm. Earn the first part of your Daisy Journey: 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals.

Journey: Between Earth and Sky – Daisies
Explore nature and learn how to keep the Earth healthy. Earn the first part of your Daisy Journey: Between Earth and Sky. Students will work on an item/activity to bring home during this hands-on workshop.

Journey: Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden – Daisies
Explore the world of gardening while you earn the first part of your Daisy Journey: Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden.

Math in Nature 1: Shapes – Daisies
Search for shapes in nature, find and make patterns, and create art inspired by nature in this hands-on workshop.

Math in Nature 2: Numbers – Daisies
Search for shades, sort natural objects, and make your own unit of measurement in this hands-on workshop.

Outdoor Art Maker – Daisies
See the colors of nature, hear the sounds of nature, and share your outdoor art in this hands-on workshop.

Brownies:

Journey: WOW! Wonders of Water – Brownies
Explore the wonders of water by finding out more about its importance and how it’s used around the world. Earn the first part of your Brownie Journey: WOW! Wonders of Water.

Math in Nature 1: Shapes – Brownies
Examine the various shapes (spirals in our pine cones, hexagons in our beehives, concentric circles in our trees) that we find in nature in this hands-on workshop.

Math in Nature 2: Numbers – Brownies
There are numbers and patterns everywhere in nature – help us look for them in this hands-on workshop.

Naturalist (Bugs) – Brownies
Explore the world of Bugs as we learn about beneficial insects in our gardens. Ladybugs, praying mantises, and other natural pest removers are our friends. Learn how to identify “good” and “bad” bugs in the garden in this hands-on workshop.

Outdoor Adventurers – Brownies
Join us on a scavenger hunt nature hike where we will collect and examine items in this hands-on workshop. This outdoor exploration program is guided, but encouraged to be girl-led.

Outdoor Art Creator – Brownies
Explore the outdoors while we gather leaves and learn about the plant life cycle in this hands-on workshop. Scouts will create colorful leaf imprints and wind chimes.

Senses – Brownies
Explore your senses while you look around, listen, put your nose to work, take a taste, touch and feel in this hands-on workshop in our Children’s Garden.

Animal Habitats – Juniors
Learn about how to protect animal habitats, see our animal shelters, and find out more about our animals in this hands-on workshop.

Gardener – Juniors
Visit our Teaching Gardens, experiment with seeds, and learn about different garden plants and flowers in this hands-on workshop.

Math in Nature 1: Shapes – Juniors
Identify symmetry in nature, find fractals in nature, search for the Fibonacci Sequence in this hands-on workshop.

Math in Nature 2: Numbers – Juniors
Tell time with nature, explore the circumference of trees, and track the weather in this hands-on workshop.

Naturalist (Flowers) – Juniors
Uncover the science of one flower, look under the petals, and find out how flowers help people in this hands-on workshop.

Outdoor Art Explorer – Juniors
Make beautiful art using natural items in this hands-on workshop.

Journey: Breathe – Cadettes
Find out about the air that we breathe, the air that plants breathe, and visit our Steel Windmill.  Earn the first part of your Cadette Journey: Breathe.

Naturalist (Trees) – Cadettes
Visit the different varieties of historic trees on our farm and explore the connection between people and trees in this hands-on workshop.

Outdoor Art Apprentice – Cadettes
Get creative outdoors and complete a colorful piece of art to take home.

The Science of Happiness – Cadettes
Find out how scientists measure happiness and put their results into action, and do a helpful happiness experiment in this hands-on workshop.

Seniors:

Journey: Sow What? – Seniors
Learn about food: how it is grown on our farm and what it means to be certified naturally grown. Earn the first part of your Senior Journey: Sow What?

Locavores – Seniors
Find out how the efforts of locavores – people who are committed to eating locally grown, seasonal foods – can be an important and delicious part of healthful eating in this hands-on, outdoor workshop in our Children’s Garden. Scouts will prepare ratatouille showcasing local vegetables to take home.

Naturalist (Sky) – Seniors
Watch and investigate the science of skies, and learn how to help clear sky pollution in this hands-on workshop in our Children’s Garden.

Outdoor Art Expert – Seniors
Create art outdoors in this hands-on, outdoor workshop. Scouts will complete a colorful piece of art to take home.

Ambassadors:

Naturalist (Water) – Ambassadors – Find out about water issues, and explore water solutions in this hands-on workshop in our Children’s Garden.

Outdoor Art Master – Ambassadors – Create art outdoors in this hands-on workshop. Scouts will complete a colorful piece of art to take home.

REGISTRATION:
Registration now open. Girl Scout programs are ongoing.

ADMISSION FEE: $12 per Scout, Parent Chaperone, and Tag-Along. One Troop Leader is free for every 12 Scouts.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE: Weekday afternoons, 4pm-5:30pm. To request a time change or weekend program, email education@queensfarm.org. Programs take place outdoors and will be moved inside for inclement weather. Participants will complete an activity to take home.

PATCHES: Available at additional cost.

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Minimum of 10 admissions per program. One troop leader required for every 12 Scouts. Tag-Alongs are welcome (unless noted otherwise) provided they are able to keep the pace of the program.

PAYMENT DETAILS: Full payment required at time of reservation. No refunds; workshops are rain or shine (will move indoors when necessary). For severe inclement weather, workshop can be rescheduled for a date within 6 months. 24 hours notice required to reschedule.

CAPACITY: Capacity is determined by program and will be visible when booking.

HAYRIDES: Available as an add-on by special request only.
