Planting Your Veggie Garden

April 6 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

$48

Interested in growing food, but not sure how to start? Through this class you will learn the basics from Queens Farm’s Agriculture Director so you can plan your vegetable garden with confidence. Get useful tips on how to turn any backyard site into a garden, choose your crops, propagate plants, care for seedlings, encourage pollinators, and more. The class will emphasize organic methods so that you can grow fresh, healthy food that’s good for your body and good for the planet.

Courtney Sartini, Queens Farm’s Director of Agriculture, holds a BS in Environmental Science with a minor in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to joining QCFM, she founded and ran a three-acre farm in western Rhode Island called Hocus Pocus Farm, helped found a non-profit market garden in Wayland, Massachusetts, and spent a number of seasons working at historic Casey Farm in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. She also has experience with ecological landscape design and garden maintenance, orcharding, small-scale growing, soil science, and plant identification.
